The 5th annual UCT Food Truck Rally will once again kick off the UCT home office’s Operation Feed campaign for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank from 11 am-2 pm on Thursday, June 6. Columbus foodies throughout Columbus and especially the Grandview area turn out each year to sample eats from different area food trucks – and help the local community in the process. It’s always a great time with great people for a great cause, and we have no reason to believe this year will be any different. Come on out and join us!
Participating food trucks this year include Schmidt’s Sausage Truck, Tortilla, Chris’ Snack Shack, Legacy Smoke House, Rockin Rolls and Johnson’s Real Ice Cream. Ohio Dynasty apparel truck will also be around for those who want to indulge in some retail therapy after lunch. The trucks donate 10% of their proceeds to the Operation Feed campaign.
Rally organizers Nicole Watson and Anita Neal are excited about the event and totally dedicated to UCT’s Operation Feed campaign. Here’s what they had to say recently:
“Operation Feed is a community-wide drive coordinated by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Supporting this important cause is close to our hearts. We enjoy coming together to help raise awareness and make a difference in our community. Every $1 raised = 4 meals for hungry individuals in the Central Ohio area.
Last year we raised over 22,000 meals for the food bank. We hope to increase our meal total this year. During our campaign we organize fundraisers in the workplace, and this year we’ve planned the following: a pizza lunch, a City BBQ lunch, a 50/50 raffle drawing, and candy bar sales. We also have a finale at the end of our campaign that features donations from local businesses. Employees have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a chance at winning any number of items.
Our favorite fundraiser by far is the food truck rally. This will be our fifth year organizing this great community event. It’s a fun-filled day featuring delicious food, entertainment, giveaways, and raffles to help raise money for those in need. We hope this is another successful event – and we hope to see you there!”
Operation Feed has provided meals for families in need for nearly 40 years by distributing millions of pounds of food to food pantries, soup kitchens, and emergency shelters across 20 Ohio counties. UCT has supported the campaign and the Mid-Ohio Foodbank for decades and has helped provide thousands of meals for hungry Central Ohioans. We’re proud of this support, and we plan to continue it for many years to come. We invite you to get involved too!
