I have some news that may come as a surprise to many of you. I was recently approached by a local firm to join them as a Managing Partner. It is a company that is doing very interesting things globally, and it was an opportunity that was very intriguing. It was a difficult decision, but after almost 8 years as CEO at UCT, I have decided to leave to pursue this new venture. I certainly have mixed feelings about it. I am excited about the new company, but I am sad to leave UCT, a truly great organization. My last day will be September 2.
After struggling financially in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, UCT is now in very good financial shape. We are one of the best capitalized companies in the Fraternal system and in the Life and Health industry, and while the Health Insurance industry lost money in 2014 and 2015, UCT made money. I know the senior management team will continue to do a great job, and the home office staff will continue to do the outstanding work they always do. My successor will inherit a company that is poised for sustainable growth and profitability, so I am comfortable leaving for something new. I know UCT will not just survive, but will thrive in the years to come.
It has been a pleasure and I wish everyone at UCT all the best.
