Making a Difference Together

The Kaye Trainer Campaign is starting to spread with the help of a UCT member…

Posted on Jun 28, 2016 by: UCT

UCT member, advocate and special hockey enthusiast, Dave Chase took to Constant Contact to help spread the word to his 300 plus network about the UCT Kaye Trainer International Capital Campaign. We can’t thank Dave enough for helping us to get the word out and for being such an active member of UCT. Here’s what Dave had to say…

Dear SNAP Sports Supporters!!

I hope that you summer is off to a spectacular start!! Please consider a request from one of our most faithful sponsors, United Commercial Travelers (UCT). Since the inception of SNAP Sports in 2012, UCT has been a steadfast supporter of our programming and our mission.

Today I would like you to take a moment of you valuable time and watch the VIDEO in the LINK below. Kaye Trainers have consistently opened doors to a whole new world of mobility for some of most severely disabled athletes, and are a big part of the training we offer on Wednesday Nights at the Ice Station.

As you will see in the video, we here at SNAP Sports are 100% behind the campaign to bring Kaye Trainers to every special hockey program in North America.

Check out the video, I promise you it will be time well spent!!

all the best…

 Who is UCT?

UCT is a 501(c)8 nonprofit financial services membership organization with around 55,000 members in the U.S. and Canada.  Our members volunteer to enhance their communities through community service, charitable fundraising and helping those in need.

For more than 60 years, UCT (United Commercial Travelers), has been supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  In an effort to continue this support, in 2010, UCT became the national sponsor of the American Special Hockey Association (ASHA) to help grow special hockey programs for athletes with disabilities.  Through this partnership, the UCT Kaye Trainer International Capital Campaign was formed and is a result of UCT’s continued support to special hockey.

What is the Kaye Trainer International Campaign?

Launched in 2015, KTIC is an ongoing fundraising campaign with a goal to raise $200,000 – enough to donate 80 Kaye Trainers to every special hockey program in North America! In total, each device costs $2,500 which includes the device, harness and shipping.

What is a Kaye Trainer and why is it important?

It’s a physical therapy device used in rehabilitation centers worldwide and manufactured by Kaye Products. Originally designed for recovery from traumatic leg/hip injuries or illnesses, special hockey programs have discovered an alternative use for the device by putting it on the ice. According to Dave Chase of the Valencia S.N.A.P. Flyers special hockey program in Valencia, Calif., “The device is THE safest way to teach someone how to skate!”

The benefits of this device have been seen on and off the ice helping athletes with disabilities learn to skate, increase everyday motor skills, and be part of a team. Athletes, who for whatever reason, have never had the opportunity to skate…are introduced to a whole new way to move their bodies and a whole new group of lifelong friendships!
