Voting for our UCT Gives Back contest ends tomorrow. We have had over 77,000 votes so far, and I’m excited to find out who wins. The $10,000 prize will certainly help whichever school is the winner. There is still time to vote—help your favorite school win.
Also this weekend, UCT will be hosting the Winter Hockey Festival at Ottawa Park in Toledo, OH. There will be 8 special hockey teams competing at the outdoor rink, and if last year was any indication, it should be a great time for everyone.
We have asked Ohio Representative Barbara Sears to attend, and as the 2011-2012 Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities Legislator of the Year it will be great to have her involvement.
We will also be presenting our annual donation to ASHA, the American Special Hockey Assocation, at the opening ceremonies of the tournament at noon on Saturday. We have been a sponsor of ASHA for 3 years now, and it has been a great relationship. As a longtime supporter of programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities, UCT’s partnership with ASHA is a great fit.
Today is also St. Valentine’s Day, and I know many of our councils around North America have Valentine’s Day events. Check the calendar on our website and see what’s up with the UCT council in your area.
